I want to run The Digital
Field Trip to The Rainforest on a machine without a sound card.
You will have to edit the file "RAINFRST.INI" on your hard drive. Open
it using the notepad, and change the line:
;RequireSound=yes or no
to
RequireSound=no
When I run The Rainforest, I get the message, "Please
select Rainfrst.ini."
The application wants to know where the original media is. You need to select
the "wetlands.ini" file on the CD, in the "RAINFRST" directory.
I get the message, "QuickTime
is required to run this application."
You must install the 16-bit version of QuickTime (QT16.EXE in the "QUIKTIME" directory)
for The Digital Field Trip to The Wetlands to work properly. It is important
that the 16-bit version be used, even on systems capable of running the 32-bit
QuickTime.
When I go to the field trip section of
the CD, the application quits.
Your computer is having trouble with the QuickTimeVR portion of the field trip.
If you are using Windows 95 and the creation date of the QTVR.QTC file in the "Rainfrst" directory
is August 15, 1996, download the latest QTVRW.QTC file
and replace the existing one on your computer.
The movies and Field Trip VR don't
display correctly when I run The Digital Field Trip to The Rainforest
in Windows 95.
To correct this problem, open the Windows 95 Control Panels from the "Settings" option
of the "Start" menu. Open "QuickTime" and click on
the "More" button at the bottom of the window. Select the "Video" tab
and change the Draw Method to "Bitmap."
The Rainforest crashes when I try to launch
it
This is caused by the video acceleration used by the video card. There
are three possible solutions to this problem:
The program runs fine, but the text isn't
formatting properly.
The fonts Helvetica or Times may be corrupted or not installed on your computer.
Both are required for the proper running of The Digital Field Trip to The Rainforest.
To fix the problem, simply re-install the fonts from your original system disk.
The program appears in a box
surrounded by black
The Digital Field Trip to The Desert was designed to run at a screen resolution
of 640 x 480. To use the program full-screen, you may need to change the screen
resolution. This can be done with the "Displays" settings in your
system's "Control Panels".
